About Us – Kadampa Meditation Center Texas

NOTE: Combined from KMC Texas’ About Us and Our Temple pages

Kadampa Meditation Center Texas is part of an international spiritual community dedicated to achieving world peace through following the Buddhist path. It has arisen from the pure intention and vision of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union.

Everyone is welcome to visit this peaceful and blessed environment, site of the Texas Kadampa temple. Visitors from all backgrounds come to find refuge from the difficulties of busy, modern life and draw inspiration from spiritual friends, including western Buddhist monks and nuns.

The classes taught at the Center are suitable for all individuals whatever their level of interest, from those who seek simple relaxation to those who wish to find lasting inner peace and contentment through following the Buddhist path.

The Center also offers meditation classes at many different locations in Dallas/Fort Worth.

The Texas Kadampa World Peace Temple at KMC Texas has arisen from the pure intention and vision of Venerable GesheKelsang Gyatso, Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union, and is dedicated to the happiness and freedom from suffering of every living being. It is one of many temples built around the world as part of the International Temples Project.

The current building in Arlington has been renovated under Geshe Kelsang’s guidance into a modern Kadampa Buddhist Temple.

We are now working on a residential house on our property. Please visit projects.meditationintexas.org for more information & updates.

“We hope and pray that in the future similar temples will develop throughout the world, in every major city of every country and dedicate the creation of these temples to world peace and for the happiness of all living beings.”  – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Deep spiritual meaning

The symbolic architecture of the Temple and its original art endow it with a tranquil beauty that soothes our minds and has deep spiritual meaning. The Temple is treasured by Kadampa practitioners as a holy object that inspires us to attain inner and outer peace.

“Just looking at the Temple with a happy mind brings inner peace.”  – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
