About Us

KMC Texas in Denton

KMC Texas is an international meditation center located in the Dallas West End Historic District, with branches around the DFW Metroplex. KMC TX was established in 1994 by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and is now a thriving spiritual community that welcomes people from all walks of life. The center is part of the New Kadampa Tradition-International Kadampa Buddhist Union which has over 1200 centers and branches worldwide. We are a volunteer run 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to bringing peace to the world.

KMC-Texas started the Denton branch center over 10 years ago. We are located off the square in downtown Denton and offer a warm and welcoming community. Everyone is welcome!

Our Teachers

Genla JampaGen-la Jampa

Gen-la Kelsang Jampa is the Deputy Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU). He is an American Buddhist monk dedicated to helping people solve their daily problems by developing the capacity of their mind through the practice of meditation and modern Buddhism.

Gen-la Jampa has been a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for many years. Under Geshe-la’s guidance, he has taught at many centers and events internationally. Gen-la is well-loved for his clear and inspiring teachings, and his ability to touch people’s hearts through his sincerity and loving-kindness.

Gen Kelsang Menla Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Texas. Gen Menla was ordained as a Kadampa Buddhist monk in 2001 and has taught Kadampa Buddhism since that time. Gen Menla has also completed temple renovation projects in Baltimore, Albuquerque and our own temple here in Dallas. He brings a warm heart and joyful attitude to sharing Buddha’s teachings and the practice of meditation.

Jenny Streit-Horn

Jenny Streit-HornJenny Streit-Horn is the principal teacher at our Denton Branch Center and has been studying and practicing Buddhism for over 20 years. She has been a Kadampa Buddhist practitioner for 10 years and finds Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s books and teachings to be remarkably clear and practical. Jenny brings a warm and caring heart to teaching meditation and Buddhism and is studying on Teacher Training Program at KMC Texas.
